Appointment Booking Procedures

Q. What is the New Student Orientation Appointment?
All students that receive services from DSS, must complete this appointment after submitting their application. At this appointment, the counselor will discuss which accommodations you qualify for, how the DSS program works, and how to access services.

Q. What can I meet with a DSS counselor about?
You can book a General Counseling Appointment with a DSS counselor to discuss your accommodations, seek guidance for issues with a course/instructor, create a student education plan, and more.

Q. How can I view my upcoming appointments?
You can access a list of your future appointments by clicking the 'Calendar' button in the menu. If you do not see your scheduled appointment listed, please contact the DSS office at 714-484-7104.

Q: How can I schedule an appointment?
You can browse the schedule for existing availabilities. Here are the steps:

1.     Click on 'Schedule an appointment' in the menu

2.     Select the type of appointment from the drop down menu (EX. On Campus, Virtual, or Study & Learning Strategies)

3.     You may select a particular counselor or view all counselors availability in the next drop down menu.

4.     Use the left and right arrows at the top left of the calendar to browse the schedule. Note that availabilities will appear as boxes on the calendar.

5.     Click once on an availability slot to schedule at that time

6.     Complete the form and click submit to confirm and finalize the booking. 

Q. How can I cancel an appointment?
If you see a 'cancel' link beside your appointment on the 'Calendar' tab you can use this to cancel your appointment. If you do not see this link please call the DSS office as soon as possible to reschedule at 714-484-7104.

Q. Do I have to be vaccinated to attend an appointment with a counselor on campus?

IMPORTANT: Students who wish to take on-campus classes or use on-campus DSS services, such as counseling appointments, the DSS computer lab, or the test accommodations center, must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. As students enter the DSS office, they will be asked to verify their vaccination clearance via myGateway.
